SEURO Project Hosted Key Sessions on Digitalisation and Care at the AAATE 2025 Conference

The SEURO Project was proud to play an active role at the 18th AAATE 2025 Conference held in Nicosia, Cyprus, from 10–12 September 2025. This year’s theme, “Technology for Inclusion and Participation for All: Recent Achievements and Future Directions,” provided the perfect platform for SEURO to showcase how digitalisation can transform health and care for ageing populations while contributing to the future of EU digital health research and policy. Over three days, the SEURO Project hosted two Special Thematic Sessions and one Policy Session, engaging researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and innovators to explore how digital health solutions can improve outcomes for older adults, address integration and user-acceptance challenges, and inform the development of supportive EU policies.
Special Thematic Session: Embracing Change – Ageing, Digitalisation, and the Future of Care
Dates: 10–11 September 2025
Chaired by Valentina Fiordemondo and Lisa Cesario (AIAS Bologna), Dr John Dinsmore (Trinity College Dublin), and Dr Julie Doyle (NetwellCASALA), this two-day session examined how digital health and care services can embrace innovation to enhance the quality of life for older adults. Presentations covered topics including assistive technologies, smart care coordination, user-centred service design, fall detection, and the application of digital platforms such as ProACT to support self-management and wellbeing.
Policy Session: Enabling the Success of EU Digital Health Research
Date: 12 September 2025
The final day featured an interactive policy session where participants collaborated to develop insights for a draft EU policy brief aimed at supporting future digital health calls and funding opportunities. This session highlighted the importance of aligning research, policy, and practice to build a sustainable and inclusive digital health ecosystem across Europe. The SEURO team extends sincere thanks to all attendees who joined the discussions and contributed their expertise. Together, we continue to shape a future where digital health technologies empower prevention, self-management, and healthier ageing across Europe.
