New Think Tank Report - Ageing Well with Person-Centred Technology

The SEURO Project is pleased to announce the publication of the international Think Tank report "Ageing Well with Person-Centred Technology." This document presents the outcomes of a collaborative process involving global experts in ageing, care, and technology, focused on understanding the conditions that enable or hinder the adoption of technology-enabled person-centred solutions by older adults and their care networks.
Organised by the Association for the Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe (AAATE) with the support of the Global Alliance of Assistive Technology Organizations (GAATO), the Think Tank was conducted within the framework of the SEURO Project, funded by the European Commission (Horizon 2020 – GA 945449). The coordination of the Think Tank and editorial responsibility for the report were led by Evert-Jan Hoogerwerf, General Secretary of AAATE and lead Principal Investigator for the SEURO consortium on behalf of the organisation.
The report applies the 5P model of World Health Organisation—People, Products, Provision, Professionals, and Policy—to examine the factors that influence the successful uptake of person-centred technology in later life. It highlights how culture, time, and socioeconomic context shape attitudes toward technology adoption and offers a set of recommendations targeting policymakers, service developers, researchers, and technology providers.
Drawing on real-world case studies and practices from Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Australia, the report explores critical issues such as ageism, digital inclusion, care ecosystem readiness, workforce training, and intercultural understanding. It advocates for age-friendly societies where older adults can access and effectively use digital assistive solutions in enabling environments that promote independence, participation, and inclusion.
The publication is intended as a foundation for further work in shaping inclusive, person-centred, and context-sensitive digital health and social care strategies.
